Fire Engineering: Qualitative Design Reviews and Fire Strategies to BS 7974/1. Footprint determination. Combustion and fuel calculations, emission prediction, BS 7899/1 & 2. Smoke development and movement calculations, time dependent escape calculations, multi-compartmented buildings: -stairwells, pressurisation, undivided buildings: -atriums, public assembly shopping malls- new build and refurbishment, transport, trade-offs, prescriptive standards objectives interpretation.
Risk Assessment: retrospective RA and Fire Engineering records and manual development to BS templates. Investigation for existing fire protection and control measures, dispute resolution building component performance, scheme suitability, hazard assessment, smoke loads, firepoint and fire load analysis.
Commercial: fire protection value engineering, specification writing, testing,
project supervision. Communication: trained technical communicator, lateral thinker, trainer and presenter, in fire engineering matters.
Software used for fire engineering: Freehand 9 for presentations with laptop and portable digital projector, Turbocad for Fire Plans, various fire calculation suites, all versions. CP4875 in BASIC, own custom versions of compartment fill and exhaust, lethality, visibility, venting in EXCEL, proprietry fan noise and performance prediction suites.
